Lady Evelyn Marsh sat down to dinner with four people last night at Hawthorne Manor and was dead before eleven. The analyst says poison, and says it was in her within minutes of her swallowing it. Nothing on that table carries it.
Her emerald brooch was on her dress when they went in to dinner. It is not in this house now.
Four people ate at that table and all four are still under the roof. Nobody was let into the house after eight o'clock and nobody left it. A boy from the chemist came as far as the front step and no further.
There is nothing here for you to search. Everything in this case is in somebody's pocket or somebody's memory, and you will have to ask for all of it.
